Alfred attended California State University, Los Angeles and the University of Oregon where he studied psychology, biology, and carried out research studies in the areas of speech and hearing, coding and integration of sensory information, psychoacoustics, and bimodal integration of sensory information.

Alfred has over 15 years of experience supporting and leading Offices of Institutional Effectiveness and Research within the California Community College system.

Beginning as a Classified Professional, Alfred transitioned to a Classified Manager and then an Academic Administrator in the Los Angeles Community College District. Most recently, he served as the Dean of Institutional Effectives at Los Angeles Southwest College (LASC).

As the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness and Research, Alfred dedicated seven years to improving integrated planning processes including program review, learning outcomes assessment, and resource allocation.

In addition, he strengthened the colleges reporting systems, collaboratively led the college’s master planning processes, and oversaw the college’s development of its recent Institutional Self-Evaluation Report in support of its Accreditation reaffirmation.

Coming from the largest Community College District in the country, Alfred has extensive experience with participatory processes and creating strong, collegial working relationships across constituencies to best serve the institution and students.

In his spare time, Alfred spends time with family, collects Star Wars Funko Pops, and travels long distances on two wheels as he rides his bicycle with his cycling friends. Alfred has expressed excitement in joining the Mission College family and looks forward to new adventures with the Saints.
