FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Santa Clara, California - The West Valley-Mission Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of the 2024-2025 Scholarship Program, offering awards ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 for ambitious Mission College students. The application window opens January 24, 2024, providing an opportunity for all students to secure financial support for their academic pursuits.

The West Valley-Mission Foundation believes in the transformative power of education and is committed to supporting students in achieving their goals. The 2024-2025 Scholarship Program is a testament to this commitment, providing financial assistance to those who aspire to unlock their full potential.

"Our scholarships are designed with our diverse student population in mind. All students should apply because our supporters are interested in helping a variety of students, not just those with the best grades or strongest resume. We can't wait to give deserving students the financial support they need to pursue their academic goals," said Melissa Johns, Executive Director for the West Valley-Mission Foundation.

To apply for the scholarship and embark on a journey towards academic success, interested students can visit tinyurl.com/MC-Scholarships for detailed information on eligibility criteria and the application process.

A committee, comprised of faculty members, classified staff, and administrators, will select recipients for the 2024-2025 Mission College Scholarship Program. The selection process will consider various criteria, such as the alignment of applicants with specific scholarship offerings and the excellence demonstrated in their essays and letters of recommendation.

Additionally, for scholarships based on financial need, the committee will utilize information from the student's current year FAFSA or CA Dream Act application. This comprehensive approach ensures a fair and thorough evaluation, aligning with the foundation's commitment to supporting deserving students in their academic pursuits.

This scholarship program not only provides financial aid but also recognizes and rewards individuals who demonstrate exceptional achievements, aspirations, and dedication to academic excellence," said Dr. Seher Awan, President at Mission College.

The West Valley-Mission Foundation funds student scholarships and support the needs of faculty, staff and leadership at Mission College in Santa Clara and West Valley College in Saratoga. The two colleges make up the West Valley-Mission Community College District.
