The following health (including mental health) resources and programs are suggested as a starting point for community members in need of health insurance, mental health resources, crisis intervention, STI testing, or drug and alcohol treatment.

Resources in Response to COVID-19

We offer Covid-19 testing for current students and staff/faculty.

Please visit our district's COVID-19 resource page at https://wvm.edu/covid-19/Pages/default.aspx for comprehensive information on our guidelines and resources. We kindly ask that you continue to use the COVID-19 reporting form available on the district's COVID-19 resource website in the following situations:

  • If you are a student or employee and have been diagnosed with COVID-19, and you were on campus during the period in which you may have been infectious.
  • If you are a student or employee who works or takes classes on campus and are experiencing an ongoing COVID-19 exposure at home.
  • If you are a faculty or staff member who needs to report a student or guest that has been diagnosed with COVID-19 and was on campus during the period in which they may have been infectious.
  • If you are a supervisor or manager who needs to report an employee that has been diagnosed with COVID-19 and was on campus during the period in which they may have been infectious.

Additionally, Health Services is here to support you. We have home testing kits available for those who would like to pick one up, and we can also perform COVID-19 tests on-site. Masks are also available for pickup at Health Services, should you need them. The District will continue to follow the Santa Clara County Public Health guidelines, which were updated this month, and is working to update our college pages to match the most recent guidelines. You can access the latest California Department of Public Health information on these guidelines by visiting https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/COVID-19/COVID-19-Isolation-Guidance.aspx

Health Insurance

Disclaimer: The Mission College Student Health Services does not endorse any insurance plans.

The Affordable Care Act/ACA ("Obamacare") has made more health insurance options available. In California, individuals should access Covered California.

Community college students benefit from no and low-cost health insurance insurance options. These include staying on your parent's plan until age 26, expanded Medi-Cal eligibility, tax credits to help pay for health insurance; improved student health insurance plans; and catastrophic plans that provide emergency coverage at a lower upfront cost.

Have your own insurance?

The back of your insurance-card should have a “Member Services” or “Customer Services” number to call. You can call members services to inquire about STD testing and what is covered under your particular insurance plan.

If there would be large cost to STD testing, you can request help with applying for Assistance programs. Member services may be able to send you a list of covered entities to help you with finding a location close to your home!

Have Medi-Cal?

There is affordable/free STD testing through Gardner Health Services at any of their following locations. Make sure to call their general line to make an appointment at any of their location.
